Character Name: Aerith Gainsborough
Series: Final Fantasy VII (also KH, KH2)

Physical Description: 
The two most noticeable things about Aerith are her bright, green eyes and the pale brown hair that spirals down to her waist. Thick bangs and one ringlet of hair on either side of her head frame her face cutely, giving her an adorable, girlish look. When combined with her round, rosy cheeks and delicate mouth, Aerith looks a lot younger than she actually is. She's on the short side, standing at only about 5'3", but her nice, secure posture deceptively seems to add an inch or two. Aerith tends to wear pinks and reds, and favors a red and white peasant tank top with lacey designs along with a double layered pink and white skirt. Chunky brown boots complete the ensemble along with a matching red ribbon in her hair. She seems always to give off a friendly yet serene feel that perhaps has something to do with the small and inviting smile that can perpetually be found on her face.

Personality: 
Aerith is a very caring girl who couldn't possibly be any more optimistic. The good things that she remembers from her days freely roaming the city she had romanticized, and while the severe phobia of leaving her house hasn't faded over the years she still does believe strongly in the innate goodness of people. She's not afraid to speak her mind or act like herself or say anything she wants- partially because she's very just and honest, and partially because she hasn't had the social experience to know that things like that can get her in trouble sometimes. She's also learned to be rather outgoing, as that was the only way she could successfully stop passers-by for conversations when outside and longing for some sort of interaction.

The only way Aerith's really been able to build on her social knowledge for the 5 years between 16 and 21 was from reading books, which her parents bought her as often their budget could afford. As a result, she's very idealistic, almost OVERLY friendly, and rather confident, not realizing that life doesn't always end as happily as many books do.

Strengths:
 her pure heart (aww), her knowledge of flowers, and her natural charm
Weaknesses: 
she's physically weak, and very naive. Not to mention, she doesn't know the city AT ALL, and has a pretty severe fear of going outside, or at least very far from her house.

History: 
Aerith was very loved as a child. She grew up in the lower class with her parents, their house being connected the the back of the flower shop that the family owned. When she was only 9, however, the family's financial situation got worse and they were forced to sell the store. They still worked there, Aerith's father being the manager, but no longer lived on premises or owned the store.

When she was only 16, Aerith was walking home one day by herself and was nearly raped. A police officer with a gun chased off the two men just in time (and then tried to hit on her himself, true, but that failed. And he then deemed her "not worth saving" XD), and Aerith hurried home. Needless to say, she was severely spooked- as were her overprotective parents- and she didn't leave the house even once for at least two months after that.

Spending much of her time taking exceptional care of the house, Aerith rarely left, even after that. She did occasionally when she had to, but never felt comfortable and really hated going more than a few blocks away. The girl still worked at the flower shop (which was nearby) every so often when extra help was needed, but rarely interacted with other people besides then. The furthest she went on any regular basis was just outside of her own small lawn, where she took great care and pride in keeping the most beautiful flowers in all of the sector. This also allowed her to be semi-social (sort of), and strike up conversations with passers-by so that she wouldn't be a TOTAL hermit. Her parents also started making an extra effort to invite friends over often so that Aerith wouldn't grow up socially retarded. And while it worked, she was still kept very dangerously naive to how the world works.

The only other thing of note was when Aerith started dating the son of a crime syndicate family that offered her sector 'protection' for a fee. It was nearly required, especially since her family's financial situation had been worsening, and the Gainsboroughs partook in this deal. Her relationship with Rufus Shinra started just around her 21st birthday, a little over a year and a half ago. She met him once when her father was working and her mother was very sick, leaving Aerith as the only one who could deliver the payment on time. It only took once for the two to hit it off, and they were an official couple only a month or so later.

Lately, Aerith hasn't been quite so happy with her longterm boyfriend, but... that's a whole other story in itself, and one that has yet to be unraveled.
